That's actually a good idea, if you can find a way that weights things of different importance differently. I'll probably end up doing something like that after I get accepted/rejected to various places.
So is it that your parents won't pay the application fee to out-of-state colleges, or they won't pay the tuition?

Isn't the application fee the same regardless? They just won't pay out-of-state tuition. Or they will pay an amount close to an in-state rate and I'll have to make up the difference. I know that education is the best investment you ever make and I wouldn't mind putting money towards and out-of-state school, but since I really don't like anything out of state better than what's in-state it's a bit pointless.

Yeah, you're right. But it's just too bad that you don't LOVE any of the schools you're applying to. Have you visited all of them?

I've visited 10 schools thus far. I got started way too soon and could definitely have bypassed some. Am I correct in thinking that you're planning on majoring in bio?

I'm not sure yet... I want to go to medical school, but that doesn't necessarily mean a science major. I'm definitely thinking about chem or biochem or something though.

Have you visited most of your schools?

No! That's the problem! I know I would have strong feelings either in favor of or against a lot of the schools if I just visited them, but that isn't really possible in the next couple months. Aghh that would definitely enable me to narrow down my list. Sigh.

Yes, all of the colleges I've seen were in NC, VA, or DC, so it's obviously more difficult for you. You can always postpone visits until you find out where you got in, although you should obviously cut down the application list a wee bit.
I'm starting to freak out. I mean, I've been researching schools way longer than anyone I know but all of a sudden I feel like I haven't gotten anywhere. I think I'm pretty sure know that I want to major in communications, but the problem is UVA and W&M don't have it...usually schools with the strongest programs are located around cities. I'm just ranting to myself, by the way, no response necessary.

Oh, I love talking about college! Haha it's one of my favorite topics, maybe even higher ranked than tea Oh, you definitely need to go to a college that has your major... that's a problem. What is communications like? Is it related to business at all? Or like sociology?

Sweet. I absolutely love talking about college, too, but I usually don't with my friends because it bores them. Communications is pretty broad and there are subsects of it. In smaller schools where there is just one major it is usually focused on rhetoric. Journalism falls under communications, as does mass communications which is focused on the media and marketing and such. There's also public relations which is pretty self explanatory, it would set you up to represent clients or businesses to the public. Broadcast journalism and radio/television are also subsects of communications. So it incorporates both aspects of business and sociology and there are a lot of different routes you can go.

No, not yet. The college list comes out in US News and World Report on Monday!!!! Not that it should be taken uber seriously, but it's fun to look at and at least good for a rough estimate.

Ooh, I'll be interested to see that. Although I doubt it'll help me narrow down my list any...
