Let me try this. The first syllable , the "Ce" part sounds like the "Ke" in "kettle" and the "ri" part sounds like the "ri" in "Marine"

I totally admire you for doing that. I've decided to never even attempt to learn any language that doesn't use our alphabet

Oh that is so American. That rules out Greek, Russian Syrillic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean. Oh dear

That's because Romance languages are so much freaking easier than anything else!
And I guess I do know a handful of words in some of the languages you mentioned, Ceri, but I know it'd be hopeless to try to gain any level of competency. Or learn how to write anything. haha.

Never say can't And for English speakers the easiest language to learn is meant to be German, because we're a Germanic language base

I love learning new languages! I have a pretty decent grasp on spanish and I'm taking Chinese next semester!
I have soo many language dictionaries, Thai, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Mandarin....the list goes on. I plan on traveling a great deal and I think it's really important to be able to communicate with people no matter where you are.

Fair beans. But apparently most people find German easiest. Each to their own.
Latin would be cool. I think it is totally vital to speak other peoples languages, to create an understanding of their culture to some extent and also if you go there. I know speaking French made a lot of difference when we went to Paris, especially when I said J'habite un Pays de Galles, the attitude in their voices from when they asked if we were English was suddenly GONE. XD You could lamost picture the one waiter rushing into the kitchen: "Don't spit in their food, don't spit in their food, they're not Anglais!!"

Japanese borrowed some characters from Chinese.
