My musical inspiration, above anybody else is Noel Gallagher. Noel Gallagher made Oasis who they are and in my opinion is the next best songwriter after Lennon and McCartney.
I have been told by various people i have played with that i play like him and my style is very similiar.
I don't like to over complicate my music... i feel that it is cheating when you write something and change bits of it to make it more complicated, why do something in 6 chords when you can do it in 3?... this is just my personal opinion and it works for me
other inspirations would include- The Beatles (of course) Pete Townshend Kurt Cobain Gem Archer
so guys... who is it who has inspired you to do what you do?

One of my friends played guitar one day and I was watching and I thought "I really want to learn to do that." My mom played guitar before her dad died so I had an acoustic in the house to learn on. My biggest inspiration now is Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Eric Johnson. These guys are each simpley amazing. Those guys are the reason I spend 8 - 10 hours per day with a guitar practicing. I keep playing and no matter how accomplished I feel, I just think "Man, I'm no where near as good as they are. Keep practicing!"

I started playing because of Nirvana, then I moved on to ACDC, then Zeppelin, now it's Pink Floyd and Clapton

My inspiration to play the drums comes from John Bonham, Keith Moon and Lars Ulrich.

My musical inspiration is John Bonham. When I first heard "Good Times Bad Times" I knew that he was the greatest drummer of all time and that I was born to play.

Definitly Bonham is my number one.
Really I don't play to be like other drummers though, I like to come up with different styles. There's a lot of jazz drummers I respect though. The drummers I have to say I'm not a fan of are metal drummers, well maybe just the majority.

Yeah, I definately have my own sound, just like every drummer should...I hate drummers who emulate other drummers (such as Bonham) completely. I just find that to be really wrong for some reason. I really love Buddy Rich and I think that Mitch Mitchell is the best rock/jazz drummer ever. Stupid metal drummers and their 67 piece kits...it's so idiotic. It takes so much more talent to get an amazing sound out of a small kit than it is to get a mediocre sound out of a gargantuan kit. I can't stand drummers like Neil Pert...

You can call them stupid metal drummers and i agree with you with that but Joey Jordison (Slipknot's drummer) is amazing... he did a solo on a kit with hydrolics (sp?) he soloed while spinning round upside down and didn't miss a single beat! although my favourite drummer currently is Zak Starkey

Mick thomson of slipknot was the reason i decided to play the guitar. He has inpired me countless times with his music, and so has jim. Listening to them play inpired me to push my guitar playing skills further.

My inspiration was my brother. After seeing him on stage playing with his band... I knew that's what I wanted to do! Same here for me but not because my brother was good. On the contrary. He frustrated me in his playing. He would always play every song in the style of the song Achy Breaky Heart! You feel my pain?! I wanted to prove to him that you can be more versatile. So when he was out I played till I had blisters. Been playing for 6 years now so you could say I accomplished what I set out to do.
