Oy! Stairway To Heaven is one of the greatest (if not the BEST) songs in history. Why pick it apart?

The truth is when Stairway to heaven is playes backwards there is a satanic message, but its not the whole song, just a lil part of it. If ur a real fan of Led Zep u wud know jimmy page was interested in black magic and Robert plant said that the song wrote it self, whatever that means Check this out www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/stairway.phpTry it urself on some audio program

And who cares if there are messages? How are they supposed to work? I'm just really curious about what the point of these people playing songs backwards hearing things is.

yeah i found this site were it discussed that.
It had the backward lyrics on it and it played the reversed version. It scares me.
Anyway, i agree. Who cares about messages. The song's awesome, and who'd need a backwards version of it anyway?

†It does sound like it. Not saying it is "Satanic", but it does say a sentence. You can clearly decipher it. If you can't, well, you must not speak English well. I love that song though.†

Pfft, thats pretty sad, considering the title has "heaven" in it....all I have to put is a quote from Robert: "If it worked, every record would have the backward message 'BUY THIS RECORD' in it!" Heh. I heard it when I first started to listen to them. I was looking for the lyrics to Tangerine and I found the site to backmask. I was scared by it! I stopped listening to them but my mom said it was false.

Wow. It's not suprising to me that most if you don't have a damn clue what you are talking about. Backtracking is very simple. Not only that, but some of you must be confusing it with sumbliminal messaging. They are two very different things. The human mind cannot hear and decifer words that are played backwards. As for the satanic part...do any of you know what the words are actually saying backwards? It refers to a toolshed in the backtracking. Jimmy Page bought a castle which was well known as a place that the previous owner practiced satanic rights. The castle was also known as the toolshed. Another thing. Also, in satanism many people learn how to speak backwards. It all makes since and fits together like peices of a puzzle. I love how probably all of you are think you are these like, die hard Zeppelin fans too wraped up in your heros to think they were into anything like that. Jimmy Page only kind of messed with it to freak people out? That's what they want you to think. Jimmy Page was way into the occult. The rest of the members were the ones that only dabbled and weren't that interesting. You know what else Jimmy Page was? A pedophile. Any of you read the book "Led Zeppelin: Uncensored"? If you haven't you might want to take a ganders at it. Richard Cole, the old Zeppelin tour manager wrote it, andi t talks about how "Jimmy likes the girls young." Not only that, your Rock gods were a bunch of perverted drunks that liked to screw the hell out of groupies. There are some foul ass true stories in that book. But now I'm just getting off topic. Maybe it is a Satanic message, maybe it isn't. I just think most of you should keep your damn mouths shut when it comes to talking about things you obviously know nothing about. Do some research before you think you can convince everyone that you absolutly KNOW that the song isn't Satanic. Do you know these guys personally? I highly doubt it. The answer is never going to be known, is it, or isn't it. No one can possably know except those who wrote the song, and just because you have this image of your rock legends that you don't wan't blown doesn't mean anything. Get the facts next time, kids.

blah blah blah. Who actually took the time to read that? i Didn't. Anyway, according to a website i found, it the reverse lyrics were:
'Here's to my sweet Satan. The one whose path would make me sad, whose power is satan. He'll give those with him 666, there was a little toolshed where he mad us suffer, sad satan.'
that is weird.

i played it backwards years ago, and i heard some lines, 'cos i live with satan' 'there's power in satan' and 'something something 666' but who cares? obviously the backwards version would lead one down to Hell, and yes, i believe that there was higher powers intervening in this, because it makes no sense how he could have planned for the messages to go backward, try writing them and reading them backward, it doesn't add up. if you listen to Dolly Parton's Stairway to Heaven it's great! Really, i think it's amazing that something totally illogical happened with that Led Zepellin song so that it could go one way or the other. incidentally i played George Michael Careless Whisper backwards and what i could hear was 'i like sex with guys' or something. i feel as if it's not done by the band, perhaps the producers do it, but then again, i have a slight feeling that a much stronger power is behind it all.

Dude, pull that stick out of your ass. It's just a bunch of people having fun speculating on non-existant satanic messages I wish it was true. That would be awesome, if they could actually put Satanic messages in their music. I would do it.
