Did a bit of writing over the summer....
I just saw a face that I hadn’t seen in a long while. Two eyes frozen in time met mine. There was no message to be delivered; it was a reminder of our lives. Those two eyes were captivating and I could not see beyond them. Luminary of the lost; where have you been? Your face seems so cold in black and white. Long ago, you existed in a world of interesting colors. It seems now life has drained from your image, leaving me with frames to fill. How can I reach past your image into your soul? I want to see the colors; I need to see the colors. I thought once before that black and white revealed our true colors but I was mistaken. Your photograph is simply a shadow cast over the past, nothing tangible, nothing true. The colors are in my hands now. Red, violet, green and blue, they can all be a part of you. Unfortunately, I must say, I fear the colors touching you. What if my memory serves me wrong? I have no courage to fill the void inside of you. I fear that the present has overcome the past. I knew this would not last so I must look away. There may come another day when the present greets the past but for now you’ll stay my friend, stay with the grey.

Summer Cinema Two of us travelled through luscious fields our destination was set but we followed no trail Before us, an open field of grass covered the land Blankets and packs of children sprawled across the open area We marked our spot with a tapestry of deep colors And found comfort upon the ground Together, we faced the sky; basked in the stars within each other’s arms Without notice the sky exploded into endless color Millions of embers fanned out, a weeping willow in the nighttime sky Our eyes aglow, minds relaxed, we marveled at the display He held me close, underneath the explosions in the sky Our sun-kissed skin touched; smiles upon our faces and our hearts on our sleeves The air about us was cinematic; something remarkable. We were living, we were laughing, all for the moment. The night carried with it a sense of venture. We disappeared from the fields; into the woods. Together we hopped a stream and climbed a root littered slope. We embraced atop the natural structure, sheltered by the trees. The moon’s reflection shone brilliantly off the water, just enough to illuminate our faces. The leaves, the stars, the nighttime breeze, beared witness to a summer kiss. Delight enveloped our bodies as we were carried home. I lay across his lap, feet dangling from the back window, cutting through the wind. I gazed upward; his eyes replaced the sparkling stars. Intertwined, our minds drifted off and soaked in the summer cinema.
