dust in the wind. and not because i cant stand journey, which is true. but dust in the wind is pretty epic
here's one thats been circulating in my circle of friends recently:
caffeine and tobacco OR weed and beer
caffeine and tobacco (not to the point where youre buzzed off your ass and cant think, just that alert focused plateau) OR weed and beer (not enough so u get the spins, but just enough to be free and easy (which is a pentangle song name im quoting))

coffee and cigs man, coffee and cigs. side question: how old do you have to be to buy and smoke cigarettes in the states?
as for the new choice... this requires some listening
i wonder by humble pie
OR
down by the river by neil young & crazy horse

the earliest age u can purchase and legally smoke tobacco in the US is 18.
i shall pick down by the river, basically because im such a huge neil young fan. i like humble pie too, but young is hard to beat for me.
here's one i dont believe has been discussed yet:
early zeppelin albums (1-4 and houses) vs later zeppelin albums (PG, Presence, In through the out door, Coda, and even the No Quarter album if anybodys heard that)

first, i want to say that led zeppelin is one of my truly favorite bands. second, my least favorite albums are presence and in through the out door. due to that, im going to have to go with the choice you named as early zeppelin.
my favorite albums are led zeppelin 2, houses of the holy and physical graffiti
fav song: stairway to heaven.
now...

being in a solo act is a lot of fun. for one, you get to pick everything you play, and can sit there and talk to the audience to sort of make everything a chillin atmosphere.
however, there's really nothing like being in a band. it's like having a few other brothers/sisters who you'd do anything for (not all bands are that way but they all should be imo). i pick being in a band because of the feeling of togetherness and also the amazing things that can happen when you're all on the same page musically.
robert plant's solo career vs. jimmy page's
this includes every album or side project theyve done that hasn't been called led zeppelin...

Grateful Dead.
Yes, it's definitely better to have cold winter. Hot summer just destroys me physically and mentally. I'm too white and ginger for the sun.

short hair has some advantages: you can shower quickly, you can basically do anything to it and it wont look too different. long hair is kind of a hassle sometimes, at least for me.
but even so, long hair gives you some sort of respect and makes you stand out in a crowd. long hair is great man. great.

distortion can be fun, and inspiring even, but clean is better in my opinion. most of zeppelin's songs for instance seem to have been done in a clean tone. yeah theres a few like in my time of dying that have a distinct distortion to them, but i dont hear very much variation as far as effects. zeppelin is more texture and over dub when it comes to guitar. but thats not the point. whenever i play electric i like to fool around with the tones but if im jamming with people ill usually just play clean.

zeppelin grateful dead beatles crazy horse pink floyd
i really like pink floyd...but i heard it all by the time i was 20. and the dead is a band that keeps on giving (with around 10,000 live shows still to hear that i haven't heard). zeppelin is just a great band that im usually never tired of, the beatles have great songs and a huge catologue of albums. crazy horse was great imo as well.
going in damarust's direction,

what constitutes as a 90s band? if it was formed in the 90s?
edit: or just if it existed in the 90s?

yeah just if it existed at all during the 90's.
i mean yeah bands like the dead were there in the 90's but it wasn't their best material or whatever.
i trust youll find some good ones.
