Are there any other big Who fans here? They're my favorite band of all time. I starting listening to them in seventh grade, when my best friend, let me borrow "Meaty Beaty, Big and Bouncy", and "Who's Next". He had an older brother, who was like, an adult. He had all their stuff. Anyway, I remember saving my paper route money, so I could buy "Who's Next". I remember carrying my copy of the album, under my arm, while riding my 10-speed, home from the record store. I was "The Seeker", as far as, anything by the Who, was concerned. I wanted everything they ever recorded. I remember my room, being nothing but Who posters.
I wanted to be a combination of all four band members. I wanted to be a great guitar player, and have the spirituality, and intellectualism of Pete Townshend. I wanted the good looks, great voice, and energy of Roger Daltrey. I wanted to have the stability, and sustained excellence of John Entwistle, and I wanted the free spirit, energy, and sense of humor of Keith Moon.
My whole purpose of being stationed in England, was to hang out in Carnaby Street, where they used to hang out, and finding the Marquee, where they used to play.
I finally got to see them in concert in 1989, in Washington, DC. Along with their classics, they played alot of Pete's, and Roger's solo stuff. It was one of the best concerts, I've ever been to.
Now, I'm in my forties, and I still love them. My ringtone, is "Won't Get Fooled Again".
I loved their last album, and I'm looking forward to any future music, Pete and Roger, will putting out.
Any other Who fans out there?

I've been getting into them lately. Which album should I get first? Well, if you don't have any of their stuff, then I would suggest you start with some sort of greatest hits CD. The Who: The Ultimate Collection is a good sampler. It's a two-disc set, with alot of their popular songs. If you're willing to spend a little bit more, their box set, 30 Years of Maximum R&B, would be another one to start off with. It has most of their hits, plus some of their more obscure recordings. It's very good. Then I would suggest buying Who's Next, which in my opinion, is their best album. Then move on to Tommy, Live At Leeds, Quadrophenia, and Odds &Sods. The Who By Numbers, Who Are You, Face Dances, and It's Hard, are okay albums, but nothing to right home about, and not really for the average fan. The best songs on those albums, are usually on any greatest hits package.

i don't know too much about the who but i know i do love their music.
i first got into the band after phish covered quadrophenia at a halloween show. the songs were so refreshing that i started to check out the who thereafter.
as far as their catalogue (only the records i know of thus far), i highly recommend who's next, quadrophenia, and also the anniversary show which is 11.27.2000 at Royal Albert Hall. the 10 minute magic bus on there is on fire!

Yeah, the Royal Albert Hall concert, was great. I have that on DVD. Eddie Vedder sang a couple of songs with them, 'Let's See Action', and 'I'm One'.

Yay, Quadrophenia. I was just reading about Quadrophenia today...and how much hell it was trying to do it live. Crazy.

Dude, this is probably a stupid question, but has anyone seen the MOVIE Tommy? It's my favorite album by them, because I guess I'm weird and love "Sparks" way more than I should, but I really enjoyed the movie because I knew all the songs already because of the album. I don't know how it would have been if I didn't. Haha.

I love The Who, they're my favorite band. There's been alot of mixed reviews about their Super Bowl performance, but I thought they were great. I miss John and Keith, but I appreciate the fact that Pete and Roger are still with us, and still rockin'.

Yeah, Zimmie, I have the movie Tommy. I love "Sparks", too! It's one of those songs you kinda get lost in. =) But yeah, the movie is pretty crazy. Haha. And I agree about the Super Bowl. I enjoyed it. Glad Pete and Rog haven't given up the band, either.
