The one that moved to Florida last year? I dunno if anyone remembers that but... I don't know if I should say shes my best friend, we don't talk anymore and I found this information reading her myspace.
Shes 20, but still. Way to waste your life. We would talk about how getting pregnant young is really not smart.
People live longer, you don't need to procreate this early in life. Unless its on accident, then you're just stupid.
Thats just my opinion I guess.

Well it doesn't make you stupid to have an accident, sometimes it happens to the most careful of people, but it is kind of a waste.

Well I suppose so, but I don't think she was being careful. I dunno, I think I would rather devote my time to having an education than having a child, at least this point in my life. She's not going to college or anything. I'm sure her grandparents will take care of it for her, so she doesn't have to. #sad-smiley-064# Whatever, not my problem I guess heh.

I have a kid, I'm 20. In fact I just turned 20 on the 20th. We were careful too, but sometimes bc + condoms = kid anyway but I don't really think of her as a waste. It depends on the situation though and even still it's hard to tell because my situation was getting pregnant after dating for 4ish months with no plan to get married, and still don't. I do still plan on going to college, and I still have a life. your friend might be ok, I hope so because there are way too many kids with shit parents these days.

It just pisses me off, because I know her reasons for it.
We had a mutual friend, who's been pregnant for a while now and when we were younger they talked about "being mom's together," which I'm sorry, this young is just a really stupid thing to say and shes the type of person who's had a boyfriend since she was 12 years old. Seriously. And I'm sure thats her way of keeping him with her.
And I found out by reading her myspace, she didn't even bother to tell me directly. What a great friend. And I'm sure her grandparents will take care of it, so she wont have to. Thats what happened when her mom got pregnant with her at a young age as well. I guess it runs in the family.

That's a shame. I agree, 20 is much too young. Some people are cut out for that but there's so much else to do in life! I can't even imagine having kids before I turn 28ish, if I decide to have kids at all. Tis true that accidents happen so I'm always careful.

eek I've had a boyfriend since I was 12 in the technical way, I guess. I do agree with 20 being a bit young, especially if it's to keep a guy around without planning to take care of it herself, that's a bit stupid. I didn't plan on having a kid until I was at least 25, but my plans rarely turn out exactly as planned. I don't really care though, I'm happy about how things are, I don't drink but I still go out and do shit and she seems fine and happy.
There are way worse ages though, I know a few people who had a kid when they were 15 or 16. I don't like to put them down though, because it depends on the situation and even though it's not my place to say their bad parents, they may not be bad parents. It sounds like your friend is a bit irresponsible though.

at my school there are like 10 girls who are preggers and most of them are 14-16. its horrible and one girl had twins in the 8th grade. My ex-best friend used to tell me to be careful with my bf bc he is older but now she is the one who is preggers so yeah...

Well I dunno about you lot, but over here the sex education programme is abysmal and often the parents don't help. They just give the, if you get pregnant we'll kill you stuff. And how you have to wear contraception etc. It's never really explained why so it's a risk thing y'know? And rebellion, like, screw them what do they know? I'll do what I want.

I think the sex ed programs are lacking here too. All of the teachers I encountered spoke of sex as something that may happen at some point in your adult life. It needs to not be such a forbidden activity, teen sex is going to happen no matter what schools say, its best to equip us with as much knowledge as possible. Also, no matter how responsible you are accidents can still happen. I can remember when I seriously thought I was el prego, it can happen to anyone.

the sex education at my old school was a joke. it was basically a q & a for anybody that didn't know the slang terms or reproductive system processes. as far as friends go i had a best friend who had a baby boy last year, it was hard to see him go through that at 20. the little boy is bright and a joy to be around but i still wonder what he and his girlfriend's lives could be like had it not happened. they seem happy with it though, i think his gf might have wanted to settle early...
