there's this guy that's a family friend (that i kinda like, but that's beside the point) who i asked to go to a dance w/me (just as a friend b/c it was a date-type dance) and he was going to but then he couldn't b/c he had to play in some soccer tournament that weekend. (the only good thing is at least i know that's the reason he couldn't go, my mom and his phone talked on the phone. so embarrassing, even though they're good colelge friends). if/when we see his family again (they only live about 45 minutes away) how can i avoid awkwardness between us?
also, on the very slim chance that we somehow do end up together, is it weird to get together because we're family friends and if we broke up we would still have to see each other?
third, if i don't find a date for my soph semi in time (it's in march so it's not like it's urgent) should I ask him again even though he couldn't go to the last dance? or would that seem really weird?

Hm, I don't know about dealing with the awkwardness, but you should totally ask him to your dance. You could joke about it like "Hey, since we never ended up going to that dance together last year, want to make it up to me?" Or something.

Also, please don't post the same thing on two different boards-- just one is enough. We'll read it, don't worry
