To be honest, the Doors are a little overrated. I still like them though.

To be honest, the Doors are a little overrated. I still like them though. To be honest, I've never heard them but in the immortal words of Dylan (board Dylan not Bob) 'Just because I haven't heard it doesn't mean thats its actually any good.' From what people have said they seem like a very much overrated band.

I consider them an excellent band, not my all time favorite but I do consider them very highly and they made a big impact.
It is true there isn't much to say. It's true there's not a whole lot to talk about, if you want to know about them it's not hard, there's only a handfull of albums to get, there are a few great books, Densmore's Riders on the Storm and Break on Through by Podvinchki and Roirdan are the best ones you can get and I also recommend Patricial Kennealy's (one of Jim's on again off again lovers') book Strange Days. She used to write for Jazz and Pop magazine so she also has stories about Woodstock, hanging out with Jefferson Airplane and what not. The Doors Collector's Edition DVD is also great, it's two video collections, a show from 1968, plus extras and an informative commentary track from Densmore, Kreigger and Manzarek.

Manzarek is the best in the Doors. Without him... they would have been terrible.

What the hell? All I did was give you a bunch of info on Doors stuff. You also spelt Ottawa wrong. I'm outta here. We love you timemachine. There's just somethingn wrong with that other one. In all honesty the Doors were a very good band. They deserve respect for being so but i don't think they need the rave morrisonites since he, himself, gets too much credit. They were a band, plain and simple. They rose as a band and fell when a peice was missing. I'd reccomend them to somone to listen to but i wouldn't say "Jim Morrison was just the most amazing creature to walk the earth." because truth be told he wasn't much different from anyone else. He hid behind a macho facade like most of us, his just happened to work better than most.

Thanks ZR. In fact there are stories that if any mc introed the band is Jim Morrison and the Doors Jim would correct them and say 'We're just the Doors.' And after 1968 when he got fed up with being a sex symbol during Light my Fire he'd often leave the stage or sit on Densmore's drum riser during Light my Fire and let the rest of the band get some attention during their solos.
