I took piano lessons for 8 years as a kid and also we had music theory every Friday.
So I have a great love for Beethoven, Chopin, and Clementi. Later on I began to play the music I liked to listen to such as the Beatles and stuff from the 60's and 70's, like Spinning Wheel, The House of the Rising Sun, and that kind of stuff.
I don't have a piano anymore but I do have a really cool casio keyboard that has 5 full octaves so I can manage pretty well on it. Although the keys are slightly smaller and closer together than a regular piano and my fingers aren't quite accustomed to the difference.

From what I understand, Yamaha's are the best!
That one's SWEET.
Not to be nosy (so plead the 5th if you prefer) - did you buy it new or get a good deal on a used one?

I got it new, using my buddy's employee discount, so the cost wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting initially. I really love this thing, though.

That's cool. I'm glad for you. I am sure it will be worth every penny! One day maybe I will get one, too. Or at least a stand for my casio. LOL Did you ever take lessons or teach yourself or what?

I taught myself. I've been playing guitar for over eight years now and I knew how to read sheet music, though, so playing piano was really just a matter of sitting down and applying that to the keys in front of me.

I took lessons, myself - and it seems that it is much easier to learn guitar THEN piano than piano THEN guitar. Mainly because of the format the music is written in. I have always had guitar players around and a few times picked one up and thought 'I'm going to learn this.' But I just don't have the aptitude/interest in it. I LOVE to hear guitar - so many sounds can come out of that instrument when plugged in.
I am trying to learn harmonica but that isn't really easy, either.
Do you ever write music? What kind of music do you like to play?

I write a lot of music. I usually play alt-rockish and country stuff. It's what I've gravitated to after years of exploring musically. I've been involved in several progressive rock bands as well, playing keyboards and guitar.
