I recently got a keyboard, and have been teaching myself some songs, practicing chords, etc.
Will be taking piano lessons starting in January. Woohoo.

Not really, it's not very hard stuff... just on the first day of choir the teacher asked if anybody played the piano, and I raised my hand, and she asked me if I wanted to do it. She hasn't even heard me play anything yet... for all she knows, I've never touched a piano

Hell yeah I'm in Beginning Choir, with all the freshmen haha. My school requires a "Fine Arts" class before you graduate (art, drama, or choir), and I've been putting it off until this year. But I'm glad I took it... it actually turned out to be really fun! Only bad part is I'm VERY sick of singing Christmas music. SIIIIIIILENT NIIIIIIGHT >_<

WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE IN CHORUS? ?? I hearted choir so much in middle school, but when I took it freshman year it was uber lame. I really don't like the teacher that much. I miss choir but I guess Spanish class makes up for it since we sing every Friday. And wow, we hardly ever sang songs that anyone actually knew in choir. We did a few Christmas medleys and a Beatles song, but the rest was really obscure. Lots in different languages, too.

haha... our teacher is pretty cool.
A lot of the stuff we sing is pretty random, a lot in Latin. Random songs like "Rise Up Shepherd and Follow", and this one Scottish one that's really cute.
Are you an alto or soprano?

Oh we did a bunch of celtic stuff, too. I'm not really sure what voice part I am. I was a Soprano 1 in 6th, Soprano 2 in 7th, and Alto in 8th and 9th. I loved being a Soprano 2 because I got to sing a little bit of everything...even baritone. It's kind of an auxiliary part. But anyway, I think I have the range of an alto and the tone of a soprano because my voice teacher told me last year that I was a soprano as well as my choir teacher, but I've never felt like I can quite hit the high notes. What are you?

I'm an alto... haha
We don't have first or second sopranos or altos or anything... the teacher just listened to each of us for like 25 seconds and then assigned us haha. And she didn't even bother with the guys, they're just all basses.

Do you have a lot of guys? We always had a problem getting guys to join chorus. In some schools it seems to be the cool thing to join, though.

About half our class this year is guys, which is a lot more than usual, according to our teacher. But the main reason most of the guys take it I think is to get the Fine Arts credit they need to graduate. Because the teacher will give an A to anyone who shows up on time everyday with a smile on their face, and sings when she says to sing.
