Although I'm a pacifist, I have the utmost respect for the men and women in the military. Someone has got to do it and I admire you for making such a brave decision.

i had a few reasons to join. family history, money involved, and making my family proud were the main ones.
turns out though i got permanently disqualified from the army for disclosing that i take anxiety medication. sucks

That sucks. The army is weird, you'd think they'd take anyone these days.
At least you had the guts to sign up, not your fault they didn't take you.

I was thinking about joining the Peace Corps, but I'm kind of worried even about that.

we don't live in a peaceful utopia, conflict is inevitable in this world. I don't like it but it's the truth, having and deploying a military is completely necessary. I would love to live in a world where sovereignty did not have to be defended with arms or where varying beliefs did not spark war, but we don't.

"End the philosophy of plunder, and you end the philosophy of war" Fidel Castro.
But yes, that is how the world works. But how much do armies defend, and how much is it us starting wars? Don't tell me for a second any of the Iraq/Gulf and Afghanistan wars happened because we needed to defend ourselves, because that's a crock of shit.

When it first started it was about the 9/11 thing, but they're not even attacking whose responsible for it anymore.

In my opinion they never were, because the 9/11 attack was just a banner to excuse the same evil that man has been perpetrating on man for millenia, for the same reason it is usually perpetrated for: greed.

Yeah. Everything runs on greed. It's sad.
