Don't.. it will destroy you. I think it's a toss up for me between USC and UCLA because, unlike most, I want to stay as close to home as possible and not go to East LA Community College

Why will it destroy me? Is USC in LA as well? Well LA is such a big city that you would have plenty of oppurtunities, but when you've lived in the same town for 13 years you have to expand a bit. And besides the university in my own town the closest is a really small.

Yes, USC is in LA as well, in fact, it's closer to my house then UCLA. USC is about 10 minutes from my house (with moderate trafic) while UCLA is about 30 minutes (with same)

I don't think just doing a summer thing far from home will destroy you... hell, even going to college far away will probably be ok. At least I hope so. Because on the west coast, there really isn't a lot of choice compared to the east coast. Like if I can't get into Stanford, I'll probably end up going somewhere on the east coast.

There is a lot of choice on the west coast. We have the all the UC's, Stanford, USC and a lot more of pretty good schools... Scripps, Harvey Mudd, Pepperdine

Yeah, but there's not a whole lot up in the Stanford-Berkeley caliber range.

1. It wasn't me either... Sarah? or LZL?
2. Private college is it's own institution which means it recieves no state funding, but it can selec students however it wants and designs it's own curriculum. Public college is funded by the state and has to answer to the state and all basically like a regular school. UCLA is one of the MANY UC's (Universities of California). Berkely (UC Berkely) is another, they are the two most prestigious of the UC's, though they are all generally good. Most of them are just reffered to by the cities name (i.e. Berkely, Santa Barbara, Davis) except for UCLA.
... there were so many people at school either upset or ecstatic that UCLA beat USC in football (USC and UCLA are big-time rivals)
3. You make me nervous Lauren
