I like zombie movies the best, but most of the newer ones are shit. I've seen very few made in the last few years that have been pleasing. Although I'm a nut for classics, so that might be why.
Pretty much any Stephen King movie is good, excluding a few and the COTC sequels, which aren't technically his.
I did like 28 days later, which kind of seems like a zombie-ish movie without being one... didn't like the other one though.

Trace, have you seen I Am Legend? It's a good film, it's sort of almost like zombies. I wouldn't call it a classic scary film but it's definitely incapsulating

Yeah, it was pretty good. I got very pissed off when the dog died, more than the ending of the Mist.
...I actually laughed at that.

favorites are night of the living dead. halloween, and poltergeist.
let me say a few things about a movie that was popular but should not have had the success it did.
Saw i watched it recently, and theres a lot wrong with it. Obviously.for one, when the police go to search a suspects "den", they dont do it with only two homicide detectives. two, its suppose to be a thinking movie with horror as a side subject, but it ends up becoming a fake horror movie with terrible acting. basically im glad i didnt buy it, and im repulsed by the fact that they made three sequels. how on earth do people enjoy movies like that? are they the same people who are prone to road rage on the highway?
okay so now on a side note, another movie which came from the same production company was hostel. i watched hostel for the first time coming off an acid trip, so i remember the experience being particularly edgy. besides if u throw in the fact that hostel was based on real events, and i think for that reason it has more credibility than saw. dont get me wrong now...the acting was terrible in both. horror films aren't usually known for great acting i suppose, but come on these people are getting paid money to act, and they act like theyre getting paid to. rediculous.
anyway this was in fact a directionless ramble, but i think lionsgate is in serious need of good kharma.
so i ask you if videogames contributed to columbine, what the F*ck are these movies gonna be instilling in unstable people. it's f*ckin rediculous that this crap not only released but also becomes popular. yeah freedom of speech i digress, but free market too and i wish this stuff would tank like the dow.
peace and love people

To be honest, I've felt since I saw him on Jonathan Ross that he was a bit of a tosser.

Did you hear they're planning to make 10 saw movies? how stupid is that? I didn't even really like the first one that much, haven't seen the last two either. I mean there's only so much you can do with the same old basic outline, it's shit.

its a farce to think 10 saw movies is enough for some of our brothers and sisters out there. it might be impressive to have 9 sequels to an original, but like you said its all the same bad concept. i for one thought the original was a waste of time to begin with. i usually like complex scary films too. oh well, ill just know what im in for when i go over to someones house now and see 10 saw dvd boxes on a shelf lol.
i agree with everything u said, except the part about the framework being shit, cuz its just berries.

Are we talking movies that are supposed to be scary or that actually scare you?

Kiss Me Kill Me aka Baba Yaga (cool Italian horror film from the early 70's based on an underground comic book)
The Shining
The Burning (Has one of Jason Alexander's first performances and a score by Rick Wakeman.)
