I'd really be interested to find out why everyone hates Huck Finn, I thought it was a pretty good book. Is it just the ending or the whole thing? I'm reading The Grim Grotto by Lemony Snicket...finally finished Atlas Struggled and decided to pick something a bit lighter, ha.

I have no idea why people don't like Huck Finn. My guess is because it's not an easy read. I really liked it, though. I'm currently in the middle of The Count of Monte Cristo.

The Autobiography of Malcom X, Interview With the Vampire, On The Road, Farenheight 451 and Me Speak Pretty One Day.
I start new books constantly and slowly move through them.

Interview and On the Road are both great in their own ways. I've read little excerpts of Me Talk Pretty One Day; it was really funny from what I could gather.
I'm still in like the beginning of 1984. It's too focused to be a light read, so it's gonna take me ages. argh...

Once i started i got sucked in though i had the twist ruined for me by a friend who was just kind of guessing at it. Still was great, Newspeak is the greatest and most terrifying idea i've heard in years.

Hamlet isn't bad. Kind of dry. I much prefer Macbeth. And Romeo and Juliette makes me laugh.

I'm not a big fan of shakespeare. His writing is very redundant.

Romeo and Juliette's. Besides, the whole situation seemed so contrived. I am a bit of a romantic but Juliette just annoyed me with her "woe is me" naivety. But I guess that is the point of the story. I enjoyed reading it, nevertheless.

Actually, I think the point of the story was to point out how naive and stupid kids are. By classical definition, Romeo and Juliette is a comedy. But the story makes me laugh. I mean, let's look at it...
1. Guy sees girl at a party from across the room and decides he has to sleep with her.
2. Guy STALKS girl in the middle of the night
3. Girl takes creepy gesture as "romantic." Keep in mind that she's 13 here.
4. Girl's cousin gets pissed and kills guy's best friend. Guy kills girl's cousin.
5. Both decide to get married (despite him just having run her cousin through with a rapier) and end up sleeping together. Keep in mind this is the second day they've even known of each other's existance.
6. Girl decides to kill herself rather than marry a count, but is dissuaded and decides to fake her own death while guy is hanging out in another city for the day.
7. Guy comes back to find girl passed out. Thinking she's dead, he poisons himself in sorrow. She comes to, sees that the guy is dead and RUNS HERSELF THROUGH. wtf?
Note that this all happens in 3 or 4 days. This is the most emo play ever written and possibly one of the funniest. I guarantee that Shakespeare was laughing his ass off behind the curtain while everyone else was crying.

Hey, we're reading Romeo & Juliet in English class right now, and I actually really like it. You have to realize that times were different back then - while the story makes it clear that human emotions never change, everyone had a lot of different morals and goals back when it was written. So things that seems really weird by today's standard were probably completely normal back when Shakespeare was around.
