8-)In webster's dictionary under the word Hippie, you most assuridly will find a photo of the fore father's of grunge "the dead".They are the personification of the term and define its meaning.Closing in on its forty year mark, this juggernaut roll's on even without "Captain Trips".He smiles down on the aggregation and whispers in the ear of his replacement Warren Haynes as they push on in the new millenium. But like it or not this bend's legacy is undeniable.Master muscians for the most part, better than average song writter's and singers.Their charm lies in their live gig's,they were master's of improvisation from their inception.I don't think in all there years and all their material that they ever played a song the same way at all.Hence this is why people covet their Dead, tapes so much. The may not have burned up the BillBoard Chart's with number one hits, but they made a good living and kept million's and million's of fan's in a state of bliss all these year's. So Keep on Truckin and check it out.

I LOVE THE GRATEFUL DEAD! If there is any band I could listen to forever and ever it would be the Dead. So sad tho, rumor has it they aren't touring this summer.

I'm not a huge fan of The Dead, I'm more into Jefferson Airplane but there's some Greatful Dead I like. Anthem of the Sun, Working Man's Dead and American Beauty are my favorites.
